Space jewelry: meteorite jewelry

In striving for originality, jewelers are looking for more and more original materials for jewelry. Their imagination sometimes goes beyond the boundaries of the Earth, turning to cosmic materials.
In May 2012, a unique meteorite ring was put up for sale for 4.2 thousand US dollars. It contains a particle of the Gibeon meteorite, which fell on our planet about 500 thousand years ago. It was found in Namibia, in 1836. The age of this meteorite, consisting of iron with traces of nickel, cobalt, phosphorus and iridium, is estimated at approximately 4.6 billion years.
The ring with a fragment of Gibeon is made of 24 carat gold. In the middle of the ring is a moving strip of meteorite iron, on which there are 9 gems, symbolizing 9 planets of the Solar System. Thus, planetary stones can rotate around the finger of the owner of the ring, as around the Sun.
On an exclusive ring, the Earth is presented in the form of a rare blue diamond. The rest of the planets are made of no less wonderful stones: Mercury is a reddish sapphire, Venus is a golden sapphire, Mars is a bloody ruby, iridescent opal harlequin – Jupiter, restrained grassy chrysoberyl, crossed out with a golden stripe – Saturn, green sapphire – Uranus, blue sapphire Nept , little black diamond – Pluto. This is the most expensive of the famous gold jewelry with meteorites to date. Continue reading
